Memory DIMM Replacement
The memory DIMMs are located on the CPU Daughter Card. Refer to Memory Configuration to review the DIMM memory configuration rules.
To remove the CPU Daughter Card and replace the DIMMs, shut down the system, remove power,
remove the system cover, refer to this figure, and perform the following procedure:
- Put on your ESD wriststrap.
- Remove the CPU Daughter Card and set it on an antistatic surface.
- Remove a DIMM by pressing open the two retaining levers (1) and then pulling the DIMM (2) straight out. (DIMMs do not use the angle-mounting that SIMMs do.)
- Install the new DIMM by first orienting the key notches, then inserting the DIMM straight into the socket.
- Press firmly down until both retaining levers to engage the DIMM.
- Replace the CPU Daughter Card, system cover and power cord, and power up the system.
